Case History: Marge Littleton
Today Marge Littleton came to me asking for a three card tarot reading and advice on her employee/co-worker. I have been seeing Marge every three months for a tarot reading regarding a difficult situation with this woman whom I will call Lisa. I usually do three card readings with Marge since it is a specific question and a lot can be answered with three cards as I’ve already pointed out in my essay on Three Card Readings.
These are the cards she received:
The Wheel of Fortune was the central tarot card flanked by Queen of Cups and the Moon. There is no doubt in my mind that today marked a very pivotal time in Marge’s life; she had finally confronted Lisa in full force. When Marge asked Lisa to perform a task, Lisa had acted very inappropriately and as she had done in the past, attributed Marge’s request as more than just a request and balked for that seeming reason. For the past three months or so, Marge had slowly been detaching herself from interacting with Lisa, attempting to use other personnel for her use. What was obvious was that Lisa, feeling some kind of rejection, brought the matter at an inappropriate place and time, to a climax.
This time Marge took Lisa into her office and in effect, in a very clear and straightforward way, addressed many of the issues with which she had been bothered in the past by Lisa’s behavior. Instead of retreating from some false compassion that she had shown in the past, Marge confronted the issue head-on and had braved Lisa’s reaction. Marge had thereby shown her strength through this situation. She then asked what the cards would reveal.
She received the Wheel of Fortune as the central card in the reading showing that Marge was in the midst of a huge spiritual and pivotal change in her life. Where and how she would land was not known at this time. The Wheel of Fortune is No. X in the deck, telling me that Marge was in the process of completing or changing a particular behavior in her life. In Marge’s case, the change was a change in her behavior and how she reacted to similar situations in the past where she gave her power to somebody else whom she felt “superior” to her. As I had remarked to Marge in the past, this was a recurrent them of hers. In actuality, Marge was a very strong and powerful person whom I had seen regaining and reclaiming her power over the past year or so. The Moon card on the side, another very spiritual card approaching the World card, (which signifies liberation from a particular issue) told me that Marge might have the tendency to retreat to her former behavior of submission and acceptance of this person’s behavior, and had fear about moving to the next place in her life. The highest meaning I ever learned about the Moon tarot card was that it usually told of somebody who was about to make an enormous change in their lives that would involve very different ways of approaching situations and there was always fear accompanying such a change. I told Marge that she must desist from these feelings of guilt and false compassion from retreating from her new step and that she needed to continue this new way of approach towards this woman. How Lisa reacted was really no business of Marge since from what Marge told me, Lisa had obvious psychological issues of her own not yet addressed. The other card was the Queen of Cups, a very loving feminine tarot card that indicated not only that Marge should take good care of herself this week, but she should also spend time looking to the future and not dwelling so much on the emotional issue now occurring. Marge asked how this could be best done, so we drew another tarot card, and received the Queen of Pentacles signifying that that she should continue to be fertile and productive in her life. Marge told me was already happening.
Marge left the tarot reading feeling very empowered and strengthened by the confirmation of her feelings.
