Three Card Readings
I usually do three card tarot readings for the New Year. It is a chance for anybody to ask what is coming up for them in the New Year, what issues must be addressed within their psyche and outwardly and what needs to be changed within their own personalities. These are very general questions. I always tell the person that the tarot has a mind of its own. What I mean by this is that no matter what your question is, the tarot will give the deepest answer, and even though on its face, the answer might seem to not directly answer your question, it is addressing the basic issue you are confronting in your life. The answer that presents then somehow unwinds and unravels to ultimately answer your question. The Tarot is the authority in your question; when you surrender to the answer given, you will then see the ultimate wisdom within the cards.
It is always exciting to do a tarot reading, no matter what the question is because the cards are a living entity, present in this very moment to reply to you. It is also unbelievably uncanny how the answers present themselves so accurately. After 35 years I am still amazed at their accuracy and their spot on ability to address any issue.
The Celtic spread which I am fond of gives a general reading which might include the forces that are present at the time, where the person is in relation to these forces, what major or minor arcana are present, whether the reading is psychological or spiritual or a combination, what issues are to be addressed, etc. I use three card tarot readings when I am asked a specific question that comes right after a full scale Celtic spread.
Sometimes, even though the three card reading is addressed to one specific question, it has the ability to encompass all the issues or the base of issues that are being dealt with by the querent. It is analogous to a one-shot bullet that manages to hit everything even though it appears small.
